I've owned 5 Infiniti G-Series vehicles over the past 12 years, starting with the original G35 in Needless to say, I love the car. I've always preferred its styling, comfort, and value compared to other entry luxury sedans. After several test drives of the Q50 and its competitors, I liked the Audi A4 the best, but only slightly more than the Q50 and the lease deal on the Q50 was so much better there was no way I could pass it up.Medivibe tuning forks
Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get an A4 -- its styling is so boring compared to the Q Overall I really like the Q The powertrain is excellent - smooth acceleration and quiet at highway speeds. The cabin is comfortable with nice feel to the materials, supportive seats, minimal wind and road noise, and good visibility. The Bose "studio on wheels" is thankfully just as good as it was in the G I like the car, but I do have two reservations: the steer-by-wire system, and the infotainment system.
I'm not a professional driver, but even I can easily feel the difference between DAS and the hydraulic steering gears used on the G-series in the past, and I prefer the old steering feel. That said, it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I use this car for my daily commute on boring mostly-straight highways. After three months I can honestly say I've gotten used to the DAS feel and it doesn't bother me anymore.
In fact I appreciate the lightness of the steering while making low-speed maneuvers. I did however have one incident where I was taking a tightly curved on-ramp at excessive speed just for the fun of it which I did all the time in my G's and in the middle of the maneuver I felt the car turn in slightly without me moving the steering wheel.
It scared the heck out of me. I don't know if it was the DAS system making an adjustment, or something else happening, but it was very disconcerting. Bottom line: DAS makes me nervous and I would prefer not to have it. As for the infotainment system, it has a nice set of features but the execution is bad, not terrible, but bad. I have a lot of complaints about the system, but I'll limit myself to just mentioning two of them: 1 When listening to HD Radio the song title and artist name do not appear on any screen anywhere.For the Infiniti Q50all-wheel drive becomes an option on its Sport trim levels, and some minor features are shuffled around between trims.
The interior is one of the largest in its class. Sand, dirt, water, and stains make your OEM floor covering look awful.

Sedans in this class need to offer all-day comfort balanced with reasonable back-road capability coupled to excellent control feedback, and Q50 misses the mark in every arena. Infiniti is replacing the turbocharged 2.
Three trims— Pure, Luxe, and Sport—will be available in either rear- or all-wheel drive, for a total of six hp models. A hp variant of the V-6 engine is also available on the Q50 Red Sport and is reviewed separately. There's no longer any need to step up to the Luxe trim to get Infiniti's strong twin-turbo V-6 and several other features, which required that upgrade in We'd stick with the base Pure trim, which comes with power front seats, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, a proximity key, and inch wheels.
To this we'd add the Essential package, which adds navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, live traffic updates, a heated steering wheel and more. The Q50's standard engine is a hp twin-turbo V-6 that's paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The last version we tested was quick, reaching 60 mph in just 4. Shifts are so smooth that they're hard to detect, even when the driver has called them up using the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Our Q50 test car was a Sport model wearing inch wheels.
That car had a jittery, sometimes harsh ride, but it's possible that the Q50's standard inch wheels would have improved that condition. Steering is light but not quick and lacks feedback.

The Q50's foot stopping distance is not, on its own, an impressive result. However, only the significantly lighter Audi and BMW did much better.
The Q50 garnered no impressive fuel-economy ratings. Rear-wheel-drive models do 1 or 2 mpg better across the board than their all-wheel-drive counterparts, but in each case a few direct competitors post better EPA ratings.

While not as premium as the German luxury brands like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Seriesnor as sporty as their performance-oriented variants, the Japanese luxury sedan offers an interesting blend of the two aspects combined with a unique sense of style that is bound to turn heads.
With a choice of two turbo V6 engines, with either or horsepower, you will never be left wanting for power, and the interior is surprisingly spacious for a smaller luxury sedan, both for passengers and luggage. But with a high price tag, mediocre mileage figures, and a dwindling ability to keep up with the latest German offerings, you will want the best value for your hefty investment - and the Infiniti Q50 might not hit that mark.
The new year also sees a new addition to the range in the form of the Edition 30, celebrating 30 years since the Infiniti brand was born. The infotainment suite has also been updated across the range and now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Two USB connections have also been added to every trim level. While the Q50 may not be the sportiest luxury sedan on the market, it certainly is one of the more stylish ones. Smooth lines and a sloping coupe roof give it a sleek profile, while the large to inch wheels, coupled with sharply angled LED headlights and a broad mesh grille give it a bold stance.
LED taillights and daytime running lights round out the sedan's upscale appearance. The Edition 30 gets several dark chrome or black exterior accents, while the Sport and Red Sport each get customized styling elements such as sport-design wheels and bumpers, or dual exhaust tips. The Infiniti Q50's dimensions mean it fits in squarely with the rest of the compact luxury sedan crowd, with an overall length of only Without the mirrors, it measures The weight also varies across the trim levels and will be affected by whether or not you spring for all-wheel-drive.
The lowest curb weight is 3, lbs, while the top-most Red Sport trim can weigh in at 3, lbs with AWD equipped. This is only slightly heavier than more athletic rivals like the Audi A4, which starts at 3, lbs and maxes out at 3, lbs. The paint palette for the luxury sedan consists of a modest ten choices. In terms of sheer power, the Q50 is hard to beat, even with its base engine.

We also like the sporty performance provided by the V6, which you can ramp up to hp in the Red Sport trim level. Overall, the Q50 could be worth a look, especially if the price is right.
